Please notice that step 2 says *counter* clockwise; step 3 says clockwise thereby changing the angle slowly.

I agree that putting the bike on some kind of stand would be nice, that is, if you have one. My advice was meant to help u even if you haven't access to a stand.

Also as I wrote my experience is that the noise change with the temperature of the system which is why I took the bike out a number of times. Furthermore I agree to previous suggestiens from among others Hogryder that the belt can be a little loose without any problem, rather than tight according to Suzuki when u use the gauge.
